Part three of the old bulgarian beer labels series.Rare bulgarian beers collection from the past century.Some of these beers are out of production,but some of them are still on the market.For example Shumensko(Shumen),Zagorka(Stara Zagora) and Boliarka(Veliko Turnovo).

Sofian`s Brew(Sofiisko pivo) 13% alcohol content pilsen beer brewed in bulgarian capital Sofia.This beer is not available on the market nowadays.

Bulgarian 25th anniversary from 9.09.1945 beer with 10% alcohol content.In 9.09.1945 Bulgarian Communist party took the power over in Bulgaria.Of course,now this beer is out of the market.The communism has been long gone from Bulgaria.

Toto 1 is bulgarian sport lottery.This label is from 10% ABV Sport Festival beer.

St.Petka brewery established before the Bulgarian liberation in 1878.

One of the first bulgarian breweries St.Petka was brewed lager,pilsner,and dark beers.This beers were exported in the largest bulgarian cities.St.Petka brewery bankrupted in 1929.

The second bulgarian brewery in Ruse established by Haberman family in 1883.In 1892 the annual beer produced by Ruse`s breweries was 400 000 litre.In 1932 Haberman brewery ceased production.

In this post I will show you some old style bulgarian beer labels.Most of these breweries are not on the market anymore,so enjoy classical bulgarian beers.

Lulin Light with 13 ABV content.Lulin brewery was established in 1905 at Sofia Bulgaria.

"May day" brew with 10% alcohol content.Brewed by Bulgarian Brew.

Shumensko special brew.Shumensko brewery was established in 1882 and it's still on the market.Great light beer.

Shumensko Pilsen with 13% alcohol content.This label talks for himself.Real classic.

Again Shumensko,but this time classical Porter with amazing 18 % alcohol content.

Here are some old bulgarian beers brewed in some of the oldest bulgarian breweries.

Shumensko Druzba

Shumensko Druzba(Friendship)14 % alcohol content.

Bulgarian Pivo

Special bulgarian Festival brew.

Kamenitza light 12% alcohol.Kamenitza brewery was established in 1881 at Plovdiv,Bulgaria.

Light beer from Lom Bulgaria 13% alcohol content.

Sofia beer brewed in Lulin`s brewery with 12% alcohol content.

You can find and taste different kinds of beer in one of the bulgarian microbreweries.Pri kmeta(At the major) is a microbrewery in bulgarian capital Sofia.Pri kmeta offers 4 different beer styles :

-Kmetsko classical lager beer;
-Kmetsko wheat hefeweizen wheat beer;
-Kmetsko red beer;
-Kmetsko dark.

Four kinds of beer mentioned above.

Good quality beers but made from foreign ingredients mainly from Germany and Belgium.However you can enjoy a good glass of cold beer Pri kmeta of course for the suitable price(not so cheap as many foreigners think for bulgarian beers).

Beer ingredients-water,malt,hops and yeast.

Gallagher beer

Gallagher beer is a small brewing bar with hotel in Varna.Good local crystal lager beer.It`s a good drinkable beer but nothing significant in it.Available on tap and in bottles for home.It`s a bit expensive than beers in the market around 1 lev for 0.33l glass compared to average 1 lev for 0.5l commercial beer in the market,but this is local small brewery bulgarian beer.If you would like to drink something different from the commercial bulgarian beers just try Gallagher bulgarian beer.

Zagorka limited edition

Zagorka limited edition(rezerva) is a new product from Zagorka brewery with dark ruby color produced with 3 types of kilned malts.Vienna caramalt,coffee malt and roasted malt combined with hallertau bittering hops and dry hopping in the second fermentation stage finished with a hint of blueberry aftertaste.6% alcohol content.
The beer will be available in the supermarkets after few days.Still waiting to taste the new bulgarian beer.

Ariana Dark beer

Ariana dark beer is a new product from Zagorka brewery.Dark beer launched for winter days.Nice dark lager with high malt and roasty flavour and medium alcohol content per 5.5 %.Ariana dark beer is available in every shop in Bulgaria in 0.5l glass bottle and 2l plastic bottles.This beer is good but with very low hop content.

Stolichno(translated as a capital beer)is a bock style dark beer brewed by Zagorka brewing company.Strong beer with malty taste and high alcohol content.This beer is a dark style beer with good body,caramel flavor and amazing hop ratio.Great bulgarian beer to enjoy with pork,beef and lamb meals.

Available in bars as a draft and bottle,and in the super markets only in 0.5l bottles.In my opinion distributing in 0.5l beer can be great opportunity to Zagorca brewery.

Some words about the bock style beers.
Bock beers are traditional german dry dark or brown beers with high malty and caramel taste and medium hop bitter taste.
